Glenn Fulton catches lunker to win Jacksonville!

On April 20, 2008, The Gillespie Bass Club held their 4th tournament of the season on the famous Jacksonville Lake. With big fish in the pre-spawn mode, many nice fish were brought to the scales. Glenn Fulton landed a very nice bass that weighed in at 7.89 lbs. taking over the current big bass of the year. Greg Satterlee came to the scales with a nice 7.00 lb lunker followed by many other anglers who came in with fish in the 4 to 5 lb. range. The results are as follows:

1st, Glenn Fulton, 5 fish, 19.16 lbs.
2nd, Marty Derganc, 5 fish, 18.04 lbs.
3rd, Brad Genetti, 5 fish, 17.06 lbs.
Big Bass, Glenn Fulton, 7.89 lbs.

28 anglers participated with 24 weighing in 72 fish for a total weight of 221.68 lbs.

Still time to get in for both. Also, if you would like breakfast before the Jacksonville tournament, JQ has gotten us the back room of the Firehouse in Gillespie. 3:45 am. Same place as last year with plenty of parking. See you there.

Jim Slightom’s catch wins tough Vandalia Tournament!

On April 6, 2008, The Gillespie Bass Club held their third tournament of the season at Vandalia Lake. With water visibilty of just a couple inches and the recent cold front, the fishing was just plain tough! The handful of anglers who managed to catch fish definitley had to work for them. The results are as follows:

1st, Jim Slightom, 1 fish, 6.05 lbs.
2nd, Gus Viehweg, 1 fish, 5.13 lbs.
3rd, Mike Slightom, 1 fish, 4.11 lbs.
Big Bass, Jim Slightom, 6.05 lbs.

29 anglers participated with 6 weighing in 6 fish for a total weight of 21.81 lbs

Jim Slightoms catch also takes over current Big Bass of the year.
