Gillespie Bass Club

On June 15th, the Gillespie Bass Club traveled to Carlinville lake to fish in their 8th tournament of the season. Normally, Carlinville lake enforces a 6 fish, 12 inch limit. The club dropped it down to a 3, 12 inch fish limit. Almost all of the field caught fish with the winners as follows:

1st, JQ Halteman, 3 fish, 9.06 lbs.
2nd, Mike Grejtak, 3 fish, 6.90 lbs.
3rd, Marty Derganc, 3 fish, 6.76 lbs.
Big Bass, JQ Halteman, 3.79 lbs.

26 anglers participated with 21 weighing in 45 fish for a total weight of 89.53 lbs.

Just like to announce that the clubs regularly scheduled July meeting has been moved up a week to Monday, June 30th. 7:00pm, Crawdaddies Tavern.

The reason being, this will give our club members more time to make arrangements with their partners for the clubs two-day tournament July 12 and 13. Had we left it in on July 7th, this would only allow two days for some of the guys who like to go down on Wednesday night. So once again, meeting has been moved to June 30th. Hope to see everyone there.

On June 1, 2008, the Gillespie Bass Club traveled to Lake Lou Yeager to compete in their 7th tournament of the season. Reports from other tournaments showed the fishing at Litchfield to be tough. The recent rains had the lake full, but to our luck, the lake was begining to clear up. It was a tough tournament with less than half the field catching. The results are as follows:

1st, Donnie Bloemker, 3 fish, 7.97 lbs.
2nd, Gus Viehweg, 2 fish, 5.89 lbs.
3rd, Wade Hobaugh, 2 fish, 5.35 lbs.
Big Bass, John Davis, 5.20 lbs.

24 anglers participated with 11 weighing in 17 fish for a total weight of 44.42 lbs.
